feinstein admits she knows it will be tough to get it through the senate. it was a major part of the president obama's gun proep -- >>> it all started yesterday when 64-year-old kurt myers opened fire at a barbershop in the town of mohawk and an automaker nearby in herkimer killing four people. he was holed up in a building when police say he shot and killed the police dog. that's when officers returned fire killing myers. >>> growing backlash against the tsa's decision to allow certain knives on planes. an hour from now, congressman ed markey and representatives from five flight attendant unions will hold a news conference pushing back on the policy. john pistole is holding firm saying the tsa needs to focus on higher threat items, like bombs. >> the challenge becomes if we focus on something that will not cause a catastrophic to the aircraft and miss something that could, we haven't done our job to the millions of people, 12 1/2 million people who travel every week. >> pistole goes before a house committee this afternoon to defend the policy. >>> breast cancer patients treat

. this is nature valley. nature at its most delicious. >>> to politics now where senator dianne feinstein is frustrated over the assault weapons ban. now, the ban won't be part of a democratic gun bill that will come to the floor next month. instead, it will be an amendment, which is a sure sign of low support and it will probably be defeated. feinstein told politico to ask harry reid why the decision was made. >>> tomorrow colorado's governor is expected to sign tough new gun legislation, including expanded background checks and limits on ammunition clips. meantime, on the immigration front, republican senator rand paul is endorsing a path to citizenship. in a speech this morning he said, quote, if you wish to live and work in america, then we will find a place for you. >>> the producers of the mini series "the bible" are pushing back after countless comparisons are being made between the actor who plays satan in that mini series and president obama. producer mark brunette calls it utter nonsense and says the actor who plays satan played similar characters years before the president was

-defense and you can ban others like senator feinstein's bazooka and ted cruz is a jerk, and that is why we sent him to washington. >> and you have senator joe manchin who is a key person here who has an a-rating from the nra and involved in bipartisan talks to hammer out a deal in bipartisan deals, and could a key in reaching a deal be the partisanship happening in this committee meeting? >> well, i certainly believe that joe manchin thinks he is a key, but he is having a hard time not only convincing the republican colleagues, but also other democratic colleagues especially those who are up for election. ted cruz is not going to win any miss congenial ti awards and he is someone who has strong opinion, and it is going to take him a while to understand the bigger senate culture, but he is certainly someone who is not, a little bit of a bull in the china shop is exactly how i'd put it. >> and so not one of the lawmakers here, and perhaps one of the solutions that is talking about, and there are efforts under way in the private sector to try to tackle gun violence, and i will play a clip for you

to require a criminal background check for criminals. >> well, senator feinstein and obviously the assault weapons ban was really what she was pushing hardest. but she says it's the nra, it shows how much clout they have in washington. in spite of the fact that since newtown there had been some talk about whether their power had been diluted. what do you think is going on here? >> well, since newtown, over 3,000 more americans have died from guns. 87 americans that woke up today will be dead from firearms. assault weapons in these high-capacity ammunition clips are the weapons of choice and the common denominator in all of the mass shootings. when i go for a duck hunting license, i'm limited to three rounds to protect the duck population. but congress says it's perfectly fine for the criminals and mentally ill to have 30 and 100-round clips to fight police officers who are limited to 13 to 15 rounds. what's going on here isn't so much the nra, it's cowardice in congress. it's allowing the uniquely unregulated gun industry to buy congress and intimidate the democrats and own the republicans
